Big O’s Oracle

Pace guaranteed to be somewhat genuine with flyer Definitely Ready engaged who should lead pretty easily.. Canali gets the trail in clear air behind him with Bel Sprinter not likely to be too far away.  Question mark over where Kulgrinda gets to from awkward alley.

Prohibitive odds but have a lot of time for this emerging Jason Warren galloper Bel Sprinter.  He’s only been beaten once, a narrow 2nd to Group 1 winner Lone Rock, and was given an early trip to the paddock in the spring to have him ready for these autumn sprints.  Has apparently come along nicely in his preparation and whilst he won’t be fully wound up, he should be winning this if he wants to be a contender in the Oakleigh Plate.

Kulgrinda didn’t quite match the hype she generated early last spring as her form gradually tapered off, albeit against pretty strong opposition.  She can show up fresh here though and is well in on the 54kgs.  Biggest issue for her you’d suspect is her barrier which may have her awkwardly placed in this field, which is not ideal when they’ll be getting along up front.  Still think she’ll run on well enough to place.

Canali is ever consistent, and whilst he lacks a class edge I can see him getting past Definitely Ready at around the 100 metre mark and looking half a chance.  A must include as he’s the fittest horse in the race.

General Truce is also fit but is a bit limited and does struggle to win unless absolutely everything goes right – put him in multiples.  Definitely Ready will give a massive sight but have supporters praying for the finish line in the final 100 metres; could possibly win given he controls the race but he hasn’t previously been able to win in this grade.  Prefer to see the NSW and WA visitors Unanimously and Shock Value.
